Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, Maine, 2010
This summer I had the opportunity to attend a Metalsmithing Workshop at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. The workshop was taught by master metalsmith Kiff Slemmons. This was my first time back in a metals studio in over ten years and I was determined to utilize every waking moment to absorb myself back into the craft. I met some wonderful artists and saw some truly amazing work being created in all of the various workshops. I was delighted to have had opportunity to meet Barb Tetenbaum and Pati Scobey who were teaching a bookmaking/printmaking workshop as well. Below are some photos of the Haystack School grounds, workshops, students and artwork. My thanks to Kiff Slemmons for creating such a unique concept for our collective work and for opening the door to a new way of approaching metal design.
